We judge books, not process.

A literary agency and imprint for the AI era, signing the writers the detector regime is discarding.

What the detector asks
Was a machine involved?100%
What we ask
Is it worth reading?

The only question a reader has ever asked.

The moment

Publishing handed its gate to a machine.

  1. Mar 2026

Hachette cancels the novel Shy Girl after a Pangram score of 78% AI. The author blames a hired editor.

  2. May 2026

Three Commonwealth Prize winners are flagged. They deny using AI. The prize stands by them.

  3. Aug 2026

The WSJ runs a Druckenmiller op-ed. Pangram scores it 100% AI. His reply: “Of course I used AI.” The Journal keeps it.

  4. Sep 2026

A novelist is struck from the Goncourt shortlist on scores of 94 to 100%. His pre‑AI books test human.

  5. Oct 2026

The Caine Prize puts its own winner under review. His agency stands by him. No finding yet.

An NYU professor revised his own argument with an LLM, again and again, until Pangram called it 100% AI. The tool measures revision, not authorship.

The choice

Two gates. The industry picked the wrong one.

The process gate asks whether a machine was involved: cheap to test, easy to certify, silent on whether the book is any good. The quality gate asks whether it is worth reading, the only question a reader has ever asked.

“I write everything using AI now for the same reason I use a calculator when I do math problems.”Stanley Druckenmiller, on his Wall Street Journal op-ed, scored 100% AI by Pangram

The pattern

This panic is 570 years old.

  1. 1455

Gutenberg prints his Bible: about 180 copies in the time a scribe copied one.

  2. 1474

“The pen is a virgin, the press a whore.” Filippo de Strata, Venetian scribe.

  3. 1492

In Praise of Scribes argues paper will not last. It survives because it was printed.

  4. 1500

The presses have outprinted a thousand years of scribes.

  5. 1980s

The word processor will drown literature in slush. It became every writer’s desk.

The gate moved from process to quality. Every time.

The Enhanced Games never asked the IOC.

A new category. Rules in the open. Performance as the argument. Enhanced does the same for books.
